Happy New Beer formed in early 2006 when a group of Musicians from East Yorkshire, who were looking for a new musical direction, decided to pool their talents and years of experience to create a brand new band.
Vocalist Clubbers, Guitarist Leroy and Drummer Nick had, for over a decade, made a good name for themselves as part of the hugely successful and popular covers band 'Them Naked Men', playing to packed out venues around Hull and the East Riding. By late 2005 the three, by now ex-men of nakedness, were enjoying their early retirement from gigging and spending their newly found gig-free weekends catching up on some important drinking.
Bassist Kev (a friend of the band), who at the time was a member of Bowie tribute 'Ashes 2 Ashes', and Keyboard Player Tim, a member of Hull-based Beautiful South tribute band 'The Beautiful Couch' and top function band 'The Herbs', were playing on a weekly basis in 'The Residents', a resident band at one of their local pubs in Withernsea. Clubbers, Lee-roy and Nick regularly came to the gigs whilst out on one of their many night of power-boosin’ and the idea was soon brought up about joining forces and forming a new band.
A couple of jams at the venues weekly Open Mic Night sealed the deal and by January 2006 the band were learning and rehearsing a set and ready to hit the pubs of East Yorkshire. The middle of 2006 saw Happy New Beer play their highly-anticipated debut at ‘The Sportsman’ on Hedon Road and since then they've been touring the area, playing their mix of classic rock anthems and modern day crowd pleasers to appreciative audiences county wide.
Lee-roy is the bands Guitarist and van provider. He's highly organised and an excellent timekeeper. Lee currently works in the year 1953 and schedules his days in the Jakata time zone.

Aside from being the bands Bassist, Kev is also the responsible adult of the group. When not on stage, 'gyeen'-fingered Kev likes nothing more than popping down to his potting shed for some solitude

Nick
Nick was recently diagonsed with a mild form of tourettes, which causes involuntary impressionistic outbursts of Kenneth Williams and Wardy. Nick's most often heard shouting "Mmmmmmmm YA". But don't worry, he's harmless.

The question we get asked the most is.... "Why are you called Happy New Beer?!"
The answer is, it came from a daft saying that the band used to come out with when buying a round of drinks..."There you go, Happy New Beer to you!". We did try to think of other names and even up until quite recently tried to get a name change. But in the end, Happy New Beer stuck because we couldn't agree on a name we all liked!
Other names suggested include The Matron Chasers, Nice Gallion, Donkey Punch, Them Knackered Men, Chocolate Sparkler, Chinrest, The Monkey Butlers and Shogdit!
Baby of the band Tim is HNB's Keyboardist. He likes nothing more than getting his organ out on stage and giving it a damn good fingering. When Tim grows up, he wants to be a Pet Shop Boy.
